A quota for every business is necessary to hire expats in the Maldives.
Workpermits are processed under the quotas allocated to the businesses.
It involves site registration process which involves documentation.
Sites are issued based on either permanent or fixed location or temporary locations.
The documentation includes work type of the business activity, MIRA Filing, Vessel details, Site Attributes,
Permits and Licenses, Site Photos and other general documents.

Types of Visas

Tourist Visa
Most nationalities are eligible for visa on arrival, although some nationalities require to apply for it in advance
Business Visa
For foreign nationals travelling for business related activities
Marriage Visa
Granted to foreign nationals married to a Maldivian citizen.
Dependent Visa
Issued for immediate family members of workpermit holders of professional categories
Work Visa
Issued for the purpose of employment
Sponsorship Declaration
In order to bring a foreign national to Maldives for the purpose of visint, dependent care or other authorized activities, a Maldivian or a holder of professional category visa must sponsor or take responsibility for the individuals’ stay in the country.
Resident Visa
Granted to foreign nationals married to a Maldivian Citizen
Meeting Visa
On arrival 14 days would be granted for short stay visa for the purpose of attending a meeting, conference or convention held in the Maldives provided that the individual satisfies the entry requirements to the Maldives.
